Sapporo is the most populated city in the prefecture of Hokkaido and is consistently ranked as one of the snowiest cities not only in Japan but in the world. 11:11 is commonly known as an angel number to those who believe in numerology and is often associated with enlightenment and hope. On November 11, 2011, Sapporo was exactly 11.11°C (52°F).
 
I have always loved the snow. There is something about that pure white that heals my soul. Some people would say the cold is annoying, but for me there is something mystical about being able to see my own breath and feel the air against my skin. It slows everything down.
 
When creating 11:11 in Sapporo, I thought back to my time there. It may be smaller compared to other major cities in Japan, but I can confidently say it is one of my favorites. It is quiet but not boring, slow but not still, truly one of a kind.
 
I wanted to bottle that feeling.
 
The pure whiteness of the snow.
The early sunlight reflecting off the frozen ground.
That soft, sparkling glow that makes the city feel almost unreal.
